Message From Randall Jordan, Chairman, Tea Party California Caucus

Dear Fellow Tea Party Members and Supporters:

The California State budget has been approved—with very few GOP votes—and signed by Governor Brown. While crowing about the $9 billion “surplus”, they fail to note the $60 million increase on cell phone taxes for 9-1-1 system upgrades. As Senator Joel Anderson pointed out, the State had the money—just wanted to increase taxes. The budget included $400 million a year, minimum, from cap and trade for the train to nowhere—without a finance plan to build or operate the system. Yet, a little over $240 million is given to fight fires from the cap and trade tax—instead of using money from the $9 billion to pay for this needed, basic service.

The California budget is based on increased education spending, without better curriculum or giving parents the right to quality education, not just government education. In fact, instead of giving the students a class in coding or computers, the Sacramento Democrats want to mandate a graduation requirement of an ethnic studies class instead.

The November elections are important—keeping our current seats and expanding the number will help bring back our relevance. Of course, we cannot have the GOP’er vote for higher taxes or a budget that harms families and small businesses. You get a surplus AFTER you spend on the needs of the State—not by raising taxes to create the surplus.

Make sure you have August 11 on your calendar. The Tea Party Caucus is holding its next statewide conference to determine goals for 2018, 2020, forming of coalitions, expanding the base and setting statewide targets. Who should attend?

If you are a leader of a group—you and your Board should attend? If you are a County or State Central Committee member, you should attend. If you are looking to network with other like-minded folks from around the State—this conference is for you.

Please put August 11 in Fresno on your calendar
—it is an all-day event.
