Keep Guantanamo Open

Whereas, On 20 May 2009, the United States Senate passed an amendment to the Supplemental Appropriations Act of 2009 (H.R. 2346) by a 90–6 vote to block funds needed for the transfer or release of prisoners held at the Guantanamo Bay detention camp, and

Whereas, this is a detention camp for terrorists that fight for no nation, have no uniform and are the “worst of the worst”, people involved in 9/11, the attach in the USS Cole, bombing libraries, churches, restaurants, and assassinate community leaders that oppose them, and

Whereas, though Congress has voted to keep the facility open, President Obama has used his role as Commander in Chief to return dozens of terrorists, as of last June Defense One has reported that Obama has cleared by release 78 terrorist out of the 149 left in custody, and

Whereas, The Department of Defense admits to a return to combat by at least 30% of those released, and the newest releases have been sent to Yemen a known terrorists center, and

Whereas, the safety of Americans worldwide is in question due to the actions of the President who admits his Administration does not monitor the terrorists after he releases them,

Therefore be it resolved that the California Republican party go on record as opposed to any further release of known terrorists from Guantanamo and that future terrorist be sent to this detention camp,

Be it further resolved that the California Republican party publicly note by sending this resolution to Republican members of the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate, as well as the media, that President Obama is going against the law, by using his Executive Powers to put terrorists back on the field of war.
